Helping Patients with Mobility and Wheelchair Needs
All the clinical areas are on the ground floor. There is a ramp at the entrance for wheelchair users. The hallways are wide enough for mobility scooters and wheelchairs.
Helping Patients with Seeing and Hearing Needs
There is a hearing induction loop at Reception, and a portable one for use in clinical rooms if needed. Staff can help patients with disabilities around the practice. The patient calling system uses a TV screen with sound. Some signs in common areas have braille.
Helping Patients with Learning Disabilities
Patients with learning disabilities get special care. They have a yearly check-up with their regular doctor or a special doctor for learning disabilities.Appointment times are flexible, and home visits are offered. There is easy-to-read material, and you will see the same regular clinician(s).

Language, Communication, and Interpreter Support
We want every patient to feel understood and supported when accessing healthcare at Ritchie Street Group Practice.
Interpreting Services
If you do not speak English or use British Sign Language (BSL), we can arrange an interpreter for your appointment. Please let our reception team know when booking so we can make the necessary arrangements.
Since 30 June 2025, we have been using DALs (Diversity and Language Services) to provide interpreting and translation services in over 500 languages, including BSL. All interpreters are fully trained and qualified.

Chaperone Service
If you would like a chaperone present during your examination, please let us know. We will be happy to arrange this for you.
Checking In
When you arrive for your appointment, please use the patient touch screen to check in and avoid waiting at the reception desk.
Clear instructions are displayed in the reception area.
Non-urgent advice: Out of Hours
Out of Hours are between 6.30pm and 8.00am Monday to Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays. During this time please contact NHS 111 by telephoning 111.
Alternatively, you can call the practice phone number just after 6.30pm to get transferred to the local I-Hub service that maybe able to arrange for you to see or talk to a GP that evening before 8pm, Monday to Friday. Or you can self-triage by going to this website.
Please note the practice offers a number of evening and weekend appointments on site, as well as offering more appointments that might be available at Islington Central Medical Centre or Andover Medical Centre.
